Canine Core Vaccines

DAPP: Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus

Puppies- Given at 8, 12, and 16 weeks. If the canine has never been vaccinated before or has an unknown vaccine history and is older than 16 weeks, then the vaccine is given and boostered in 3-4 weeks. The vaccine is then boostered in 1 year then every 3 years thereafter.

Rabies

The state of Nevada recognizes the rabies vaccine when it is given as early as 12 weeks. In our clinic, the vaccine is typically given at 16 weeks. If the canine has never been vaccinated before or has an unknown vaccine history, the vaccine is given then should be boostered in 1 year and then every 3 years thereafter.

Canine Lifestyle Vaccines

Leptospirosis (Lepto):  For canines that have access to small stagnant bodies of water or frequent lakes, streams or rivers with wildlife present.

Puppies- Given at 12 and 16 weeks. If the canine has never been vaccinated or has an unknown vaccine history and is older than 16 weeks, the vaccine is given and boostered in 3-4 weeks. The vaccine is then boostered in 1 year and then yearly thereafter.

Bordatella:  Recommended for canines that go where groups of dogs are gathered such as dog parks or boarding kennels

Our clinic recommends this be given at 16 weeks of age. A single oral dose can be given as early as 8 weeks and is boostered yearly. Some boarding facilities require it within 6 months of the canine’s stay.

Canine Influenza:  Recommended for canines that go where groups of dogs are gathered such as dog parks or boarding kennels

Puppies- Given at 16 and 20 weeks. If the canine has never been vaccinated or has an unknow vaccine history and is older than 16 weeks, the vaccine is given and boostered in 3-4 weeks. The vaccine is then boostered in 1 year and then yearly thereafter. This vaccine can be given at 12 weeks upon request.

Rattlesnake:  Recommended if canine frequents the desert or hikes with the owner

A puppy is not going to be well-protected until 2 weeks after his/her

last set of vaccinations.

Generally, there are 3 sets administered.

All dogs need to be boostered 1 year after their last set of puppy vaccinations.

The vaccinations are needed every 1-3 years.
